Federations

27 commandsFederationsOpen in Telegram

Running several groups means the same spammer shows up everywhere. A federation links your groups to one ban list: ban someone once with /fban, and they're removed from every group in it, and kept out of the ones they haven't found yet.

Setting one up#

  1. In Marina's private chat, send /newfed with a name. You get a federation id.
  2. In each group, the group owner sends /joinfed with that id.
  3. Invite people you trust with /fedpromote. They can fed ban across all groups without being admins there.

How bans spread#

A fed ban removes the person from every group of the federation where Marina has seen them. Everywhere else they're removed the moment they join or speak, and their join requests are declined. Fed bans never hit the fed owner, fed admins or Marina.

Sharing ban lists#

Subscribe to up to five other federations with /subfed, and their bans apply in your groups too. Ban lists move in and out with /fedexport and /fedimport (CSV, JSON and more).

Checking someone#

/fedstat shows every federation a person is banned in. Even with a thousand bans the reply stays readable: Marina shows the count and sends the full list as a file.

/fban @spammer crypto scam

/fedstat @someone
Every federation they're banned in.

Good to know#

  • Only supergroups can join, and a group is in one federation at a time.
  • An import keeps bans you already have unless you add overwrite.
  • Removing people from a group needs the Ban users right there.
  • In groups, the lookup commands are for the group's admins; in private chat anyone can use them.
