Connections

6 commandsGetting startedOpen in Telegram

Changing settings in front of the whole group gets noisy. A connection lets you do it from your private chat with Marina instead: connect once, and the commands you send her there apply to that group.

Connecting#

Send /connect in the group and tap the button, or send /connect with the group's id or @username in private chat. Without any argument in private, Marina offers your recent groups. /reconnect jumps back to one of them later.

What works through a connection#

Settings and information: notes, filters, rules, welcomes, locks, blocklists, warnings settings, log channels, federation commands and much more. Actions that need a message in the chat (bans, mutes, pins and purges) still happen in the group itself.

Members can connect too#

Regular members may connect to read notes, filters and rules privately. Changing anything still needs admin rights. Admins can keep connections for themselves with /allowconnect off.

Commands#

Everyone

/connect <chat id or @username>
In private chat, connect to that group.
/connect
Alone in private: pick a recent group. In a group: a button that connects you in private.
/disconnect
End the current connection.
/reconnect
Pick one of your recent groups again.
/connection
Which group you're connected to, and what you can do there. Also /connections.

Admins

/allowconnect <on/off>
Let regular members connect, or keep it for admins. On by default.

Examples#

/connect -1001234567890
Connect by chat id. Send /id in the group to find it.
/connect @mygroup
Connect by username.

Good to know#

  • You have to be a member of the group. The connection ends by itself if you leave or get banned.
  • A /connect that fails also closes your current connection, so you never change the wrong group by accident.
  • /disconnect, /reconnect and /connection only work in private chat.
