Approval

5 commandsModerationOpen in Telegram

Some members are clearly trustworthy but don't need admin rights. Approve them, and the automatic filters leave them alone: locks, blocklists and antiflood skip them, and so do CAPTCHAs, /dnd and the passive federation checks.

What still applies#

Approval isn't immunity. Direct bans, new /fban commands, warnings and reports still work on approved members.

Commands#

Everyone

/approval [user]
Whether you (or someone) are approved, and why.

Admins

/approve <user> [reason]
Approves a member. The reason shows in /approval and /approved.
/unapprove <user>
Removes an approval. Also /disapprove.
/approved
Lists approved members. Long lists arrive as a file.

Chat owner

/unapproveall
Removes every approval, after you confirm. Also /disapproveall.

Examples#

/approve @someone helps with moderation
Approve with a reason.
/approval
Check your own status.

Good to know#

  • Admins never need approving.
  • Approvals only matter where Marina is an admin.
  • With CAPTCHA or /autoapprove on, an approved member's join request goes straight through.
  • A group can hold up to 1,000 approved members.
